Students facing financial difficulties can apply for assistance this academic year from the Sing Tao Foundation Students' Loan Fund.
Those studying at secondary schools or technical institutes are eligible, with priority given to pupils nearing completion of their studies.
For high school pupils in Form Four to Form Seven, or those at the Shue Yan College, the fund provides interest-free emergency loans to those hit by sudden financial difficulties.
A Student Financial Assistance Agency spokesman said: 'These students should inform their school principals who will apply on their behalf.' The university students suffering similar hardships can apply for help to the Hong Kong Rotary Club Students' Loan Fund. It offers help to those attending any of the seven government- funded tertiary institutions.
