The man who taught action superstar Jackie Chan Kwong-sang his kung fu skills has died in the United States.
Kung fu grandmaster Yu Jim-yuen became almost a second father to the young Chan as he taught him mime, tumbling, acting, dancing and acrobatics at the Chinese Opera Research Institute in Tsim Sha Tsui.
A spokesman for Chan said he was upset at the news of the death and was considering going to Los Angeles to pay his last respects to Yu, 94.
'When I spoke to him over the phone, Jackie sounded so unhappy. I think he will stop filming and go to America,' the spokesman said. 'They always had a good relationship. Jackie is now contacting other students of Mr Yu about funeral arrangements.
'Jackie usually only takes days off when he is injured. But paying his respects to his master is important.' Chan is currently working on Golden Harvest film Who Am I? in Holland.
A spokesman for the film company said actors and actresses working on the $100 million project would be given time off to attend the funeral.
