Hong Kong sport has benefited to the tune of $376,780 - generated from the sales of MTR Commemorative tickets. The Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Sports Association for the Physically Disabled shared the proceeds. A total of 50,000 tourist souvenir tickets were donated by the MTR and were repackaged by the Hong Kong Sports Development Board into a commemorative ticket set. These were sold at six MTR travel service centres at $20 per set for three months from last December. The set was launched in recognition of windsurfer Lee Lai-shan's success in winning Hong Kong's first Olympic gold and the outstanding performances of the paralympic athletes in Atlanta last year. 'The funds generated would definitely help the development of the sport in the future,' said Dennis Chau, administration director of the Windsurfing Association of Hong Kong.
