But the oldest and the newest universities have a problem: they do not have flagpoles.
Hong Kong University and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology are racing to install new flagpoles.
A spokesman for Hong Kong University's external relations office said it was still uncertain whether the flag would be hoisted.
'First have to sort out the technical problems.

'We don't have proper flagpoles on campus. The existing poles at Loke Yew Hall have not been used for a long time. We don't think it is proper to raise the national flag on those poles,' she said.
