A construction worker sabotaged cables on the Tsing Ma Bridge a fortnight before it was officially opened, a court heard yesterday.

Cheung Wai-man, 32, allegedly damaged the cables because he was unhappy foreman Chiang Tsang-kin had given him extra duties.

He denied a charge of criminal damage at Tsuen Wan Court yesterday.

The court heard Cheung, hired as a driver, argued with the foreman when he was told to do cable-laying work.

On April 14, Cheung allegedly cut the cables so Mr Chiang would not be able to complete the project on time.
