I THANK Brigadier C. Hammerbeck (South China Morning Post, February 26) for his prompt reply to my letter. I can assure him, however, that the flag on Wah Shan was not lowered at any time during the Lunar New Year period.
While fully recognising the need for the Army to use the ranges, my point is that the flag flies continuously, day and night, and therefore causes inconvenience to the many early morning walkers who go up at daybreak or earlier. This was also the point made originally by Mr Wong Wai-man. Surely they can be lowered when firing is not in progress.
