Glamour girls keep going back to Thai Buddha

Socialite Ruby Yao confesses to being very religious. She has just returned from a day trip to Bangkok, where she went to pray to the famous four-face Buddha in the heart of the city.

There are many temples and Buddhist shrines in the Thai capital, but this particular one located next to the Grand Hyatt is well known for granting wishes to beautiful women.

Many actresses and starlets from Hong Kong make pilgrimages there to pray for fame and fortune.

'This particular Buddha loves beautiful and glamorous women. If you dress up and do your make-up nicely, there is a higher chance of him granting your wishes,' Ruby tells me.

But many women also pray to him for love and fulfilment in their relationships.

Ruby, a Stanford University graduate in industrial engineering who worked as an investment banker before she found those all-nighters in the office impinging on her beauty sleep, is now a full-time tai-tai.
