The estranged wife of a businessman given an 18-month suspended sentence for bigamy is demanding a tougher sentence.
Tang Yong-chang and his mistress Chen Man-hung were given the terms by a Zhuhai court on Thursday.
But a spokesman for the Zhuhai Lower People's Court told the South China Morning Post yesterday that Tang's estranged Hong Kong wife, Wong Yin, was not satisfied with the sentence.
'She made an appeal to the Zhuhai Intermediate People's Court asking for heavier punishment for them,' he said.
'We thought we had given them an appropriate prison term according to the Chinese law. But the plaintiff was not happy.' The court had delivered a light sentence because the couple had a three-year-old daughter, he said.
She had been told to try to make peace with her husband.
