A two-minute clip showing highlights of the official handover video may be used to promote the fund-raising souvenir around the world.

The preview, watched by Chief Secretary for Administration Anson Chan Fang On-sang and RTHK's Director of Broadcasting Cheung Man-yee yesterday, may be shown in airport lounges and Hong Kong tourism offices.

It opens with snippets of speeches by President Jiang Zemin and Chief Executive Tung Chee-hwa before fading in and out of shots of Mrs Chan and Provisional Legislature President Rita Fan Hsu Lai-tai being sworn in.

There are also glimpses of the festivities, such as banquets, fireworks and concerts.

But former Governor Chris Patten is only featured for a couple of split-second shots, the first of which shows him bedraggled at the rain-drenched sundown ceremony.

Deputy director of broadcasting Chu Pui-hing said he found the preview's coverage 'well balanced' and ideal for local and overseas promotion. Both the preview and the full two-hour video were put together by RTHK editors.
