On Wednesday, we were enjoying a delightful day on a junk moored in a bay on the west side of Lamma.
During the afternoon, as people were swimming off the boats a junk moored near us, flying an 'Exxon Chemicals' flag (boat number 32106), started its engines, moved towards the shore and dumped a whole load of yellowish oil into the water.
Once finished the boat reversed to its original position and switched off its engine. The oil slick spread around all the other boats and everybody in the water had to get out until it had dispersed. I have never witnessed such a selfish, disgusting and disgraceful act. I hope that Exxon Chemicals takes steps to ensure that a repeat of the above does not occur.
Hong Kong waters are absolutely filthy and until the people like the coxswain I saw on Wednesday are educated, they will remain so, to Hong Kong's everlasting shame.
