The objective of the convention centre's communications department is to position the centre both locally and overseas as a world-class facility.

The unit, which consists of four administration and nine frontline staff, supports all the centre's other departments.

Communications manager Florence Lai said she wanted to continue to elevate the status of the centre in Hong Kong and overseas and also to build awareness among local people about its facilities.

She said direct mailing at a targeted audience (to reduce wastage), advertising in trade magazines and distributing quality promotional material at local and overseas exhibitions would project a high profile image of Hong Kong and the centre as the best place in Asia to stage events.

Ms Lai said the department was producing a CD-ROM which would contain comprehensive information about the facilities and services of the centre and introduce Hong Kong to overseas exhibitors and exhibition organisers.

'We are proud of this landmark and the first-class facilities we offer,' she said.
