Customs authorities have made their biggest pirated CD-related seizure in a $47 million raid on a factory in Hunghom.
Officials yesterday said they were considering paying for tip-offs as they stepped up their battle against the industry.
The weekend raid saw officers confiscate three pressing machines, worth about $15 million each, and 60,000 pirated CDs and VCDs worth about $2 million.
The haul came after Customs officers intercepted a man arriving from Macau at the Sheung Wan ferry terminal and found 21 CD master plates on him.
The arrest led officers to a ninth-floor factory in Sung Ping Street, Hunghom.
Two men, including a Chinese-born Australian, were arrested.
Inside the plant, three new presses and the pirated discs were seized. Each machine was capable of producing 40,000 discs a day.
