An agreement has been reached which will give Malaysian students access to a Canadian institute's internationally renowned expertise in the rapidly expanding field of computer animation.
Sheridan College has signed a deal with the Limkokwing Institute of Creative Technology (LICT), in Kuala Lumpur, in which - from September 1998 - students enrolled in the LICT design programme will be offered a third-year curriculum called Sheridan-at-LICT.
Designed by Sheridan, it will be taught by LICT staff. Graduates of the programme will have the opportunity to study at the Sheridan College in Canada through a special programme option, Sheridan International.
They will be issued with Sheridan's Postgraduate Diploma in Digital Animation if they finish the course.
With animation increasingly at the forefront of new design technologies, ranging from advertisements to special-effects in films, an increasing number of international groups are seeking partnership with Sheridan College because of its position as a leader in the field.
The partnership with the LICT points to an expected trend in member countries of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations towards niche markets using emerging technologies.
