Cut Up Rough - winner of the Group One VicHealth Cup (1,400 metres) at Caulfield at his latest appearance - will be among the entries for the $6.5 million International Bowl (1,400 metres) at Sha Tin on December 14.

His owner Gary Lechte will be nominating the seven-year-old for the event on the advice of leading Hong Kong trainer David Hayes, who prepared the horse before his departure for Hong Kong two years ago.

'David was very impressed with the way Cut Up Rough was working, when he was in Melbourne before the Hong Kong season opened,' Lechte said.

'He told me the horse would race better than ever, when he resumed David also said that the International Bowl would be an ideal race for him, because he's a 1,400-metre specialist.

'The win in the VicHealth Cup was the best of his career so David's been right there and now we'll follow his advice and press on towards Hong Kong.' Cut Up Rough, who is now in the stable of David's elder brother Peter, has been lightly raced and has started on only 32 occasions.

Following his VicHealth Cup victory last Sunday his career record stands at nine wins, three seconds - three at Group One level - and three thirds for prize winnings of A$471,250.
