RUBBISH and nets paralysed attempts yesterday to find four missing seamen whose boat sank after a collision off Aberdeen.
Fishing nets and filthy water prevented divers from going into the sunken fishing boat to search for the bodies of the Hong Kong captain and three mainland deckhands, believed trapped in the cabin.
Barges with cranes were sent to pull the 14-metre boat, in 38 metres of water, to the surface but abandoned nets were said to have hindered the operation, which had to be called off yesterday evening.
The search is expected to be resumed today but the four men are presumed drowned.
The four are Hong Kong fisherman Lam Mau-ming, 55, and mainlanders Lin Zhixi, 36, Lin Zhiyou, 37, and Chen Lisheng, 42.
The only survivor so far is a mainland deckhand, Huang Hao, 39.
