Guangzhou Ethylene on line

An ethylene plant in Guangdong has started operations and will help meet demand in the region, a company official said. The Guangzhou Ethylene Co was expected to produce 150,000 tonnes of ethylene a year, the official said. The plant could produce a total of 220,000 tonnes of polyethylene, polystyrene and polypropylene as well as 140,000 tonnes of other liquid chemicals, he said. The plant was expected to generate annual sales of three billion yuan (about HK$2.79 billion), he said.
