Norman Ko Wah-man, mechanical engineering professor at the University of Hong Kong (HKU), has 60 sculptures on display as part of an exhibition titled In Continuous Search.

The event showcases Professor Ko's achievements both in science and the arts over the past 30 years.

Underwater photographs taken by Professor Ko also are on display.

Past shows in Hong Kong and the fact he has some works in private collections throughout the world have helped established his reputation in sculpture and painting.

One of Professor Ko's largest and most distinctive sculptures is On Wings, located at the main entrance to HKU's Haking Wong Building. 'It depicts two bird-like creatures soaring above their surroundings with wings outstretched,' he explained. 'It symbolises a continuous and earnest effort to reach for the sky and represents the university's attempts to extend beyond its realm in the search for knowledge.' The sculpture is light blue, with each stainless steel 'bird' weighing about a tonne. They are suspended by three cables with extra support provided by another three.
