Clios get regional promoter

The parent company of Asian Advertising and Marketing (A & M), BPI Communications, has bought the prestigious advertising event, the Clio Awards.

BPI Communications purchased the New York-based awards, now in their 38th year, from custodian Jim Smyth who took over the event in 1992.

A & M publisher Leslie Burt described the acquisition as good news for the Asian advertising industry.

'A & M will assist in promoting the Clio Awards in Asia and in promoting the best of the region's advertising to the world,' she said.

Each spring, at a gala awards ceremony, Clios are awarded in categories such as print, broadcast, packing and website design.
