A two-year-old girl left unattended at home in Tuen Mun was killed when she set a mattress on fire with a lighter.

 Yeung Yee-ching had been left in a bedroom in the flat in Nam Tei First Street at about 4 pm when her grandmother went shopping.

 When the woman returned, she found the flat filled with thick smoke. Yee-ching was taken unconscious to Tuen Mun Hospital and certified dead. The girl was looked after by her grandparents.
