Provisional legislators cast doubt yesterday over promises made by officials that infrastructure facilities will be ready before people are housed in newly developed sites.
They criticised the Government's plan for transport facilities in the Policy Address as too vague.
Transport panel members were worried road development might not cope with the massive housing plans.
Secretary for Constitutional Affairs Nicholas Ng Wing-fui reiterated the Government's commitment to match transport to the housing plan.
'I can guarantee that our infrastructure will be able to tie in with land exploitation,' Mr Ng said.
But Edward Ho Sing-tin of the Liberal Party queried how the housing targets could be met if the Transport Bureau could not provide more concrete information on the transport network.
