There is no better formula for reviving flagging enthusiasm than a new start. For Canto-pop singer Andy Hui Chi-on, 1997 has given him a chance to discover that magic formula twice over.

After singing for almost a decade, Hui has a new manager and a new record label Go East! which have given his career a new lease of life.

Suddenly Hui is appearing on more magazine covers than he can count, and also a television commercial for an electrical firm, and his new album, Sky Of Mine, Songs Of Mine, is doing well in the charts. He is also becoming a familiar face in the movies.

'It's like getting an adrenalin shot,' says the singer enthusiastically.

'It just gives you the incentive to really throw yourself into work and be more hard-working.

'I mean the people who work with me encourage me to work harder and I, on the other hand, hope that they do the same. So it's a two-way thing really. I think I've found the right team that I am most comfortable with.' Hui started his career in singing when he entered the TVB-organised New Talent Singing Contest in 1986 and took home the trophy - and with it a five-year contract with Capital Artists, which he renewed until early this year.

He is quick to add that his former label, Capital Artists, did not do him any injustice: in fact, he is grateful that Capital Artists had continuously supported him with opportunities to release albums. But a change in label has meant a change in faces and also a new chemistry at work.
