Despite what you may have heard about tennis legend Boris Becker, shyness is definitely not one of his salient characteristics.
The German ace is in town for the Marlboro Championships, whose finals take place on Sunday at Victoria Park.
Boris, who has said that he will not play in Grand Slam events after this year, also plans to spend less time on the international circuit. But what will he do? After all, he is only 29.
'I plan to coach younger players and being the Davis Cup captain will also take a lot of my time.' Boris told me this is his second time in Hong Kong and he loves the harbour. He had a great time here on his first visit and is looking forward to enjoying himself again, this time with two friends who travelled with him from Germany.
But forget tennis, what I really wanted to know was why he decided to pose nude for top photographer Herb Ritts in Tag Heuer's specially commissioned project to mark the launch of its new watch series, Kirium.
'I was very honoured to be in Herb's book,' said Boris, who despite his aggressive persona on court was soft-spoken and charming. But did he feel embarrassed about taking it all off for the camera? 'Not at all. I had a good relationship with everyone on that project and it was fun.' Sounds like a good enough reason to me.
