FAW Volkswagen boosts sales

FAW Volkswagen, a joint venture between First Auto Works and Germany's Volkswagen, produced 32,579 Jetta cars between January and September, according to the company. It was expected to produce 45,000 Jettas in 1997, against 20,000 last year, an official said. The Jetta model had captured an 8.7 per cent share of total car sales in the nine months, up from 6.3 per cent in the same period last year. The company also made 785 Audi 200 cars and sold 743 between July and September.
