The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment of Hong Kong said yesterday the Electoral Affairs Commission proposals on geographical election boundaries were unsatisfactory.
Vice-chairman Cheng Kai-nam said the party would like to see the newly built area in Sai Kung incorporated into the urban constituencies.
He stressed the importance of taking into account the development factor in defining rural and urban areas.
'Sai Kung was originally a village area. With the addition of new housing estates, it has become less of a rural area now,' he said.
Mr Cheng also said the advantages of proportional representation could not be seen with only three seats in a constituency.
The party has expressed reservations over the proposal that only three seats will be allocated to each of the Kowloon East and Kowloon West constituencies.
