The managing director of China Travel International Investment (CTII) says more emphasis will be placed on the company's core activities.
Dennis Lam Haw-shun said yesterday the firm would focus on travel, leisure and entertainment while the red chip was still aiming to expand into a conglomerate.
CTII is the only Hong Kong-listed company that manages theme parks in China, but tourist numbers at the three parks have dwindled, resulting in a drop in revenue.
Mr Lam said CTII would upgrade facilities at the parks and at other leisure and entertainment ventures such as a golf club Mr Lam bought recently at an auction in Shenzhen.
It is also understood CTII plan to invest in a resort in Shenzhen.
Mr Lam said the company was studying a variety of investment opportunities but no decision had been made.
