Taiwan pop singer Chang Yu-sheng died after a car accident before dawn yesterday.
Doctors said there had been no hope of saving Chang, one of the island's most popular singers, who sustained serious head injuries in the accident.
Chang, whose 1990 hit My Future is Not a Dream inspired youths in Taiwan, Hong Kong and the mainland, drove into a streetlight while making his way home to the coastal suburb of Tamsui from Taipei at about 2.45 am.

He was driving alone, police said.
'When he arrived, he was practically already dead. He had virtually no life signs at all,' Dr Chiang Ming-fu said at Mackay Memorial Hospital in Tamsui.
