Doyle, released after spending two hours at the nearby Prince Of Wales hospital, was resting at home late yesterday and hoping he can recover quickly enough to fulfil a full book of engagements at Sha Tin tonight.

The John Moore-trained Master Eagle knuckled over at the start of the trial and Doyle was dropped heavily and then kicked. He lay prostrate on the ground for some minutes and was later stretchered off.

A full examination and X-rays revealed nothing had been broken and Doyle was back in his Jockey Club flat two hours later.

He said he should make his engagements, adding: 'I don't remember much about it - I am feeling a bit sore but nothing more.' Doyle has six winners to his credit halfway through his three months as a Club jockey.
