This is the seventh year of the award, which is jointly organised by Lion and Globe Educational Trust and RTHK Radio 2. The number of schools which took part this year reached 311, a record compared with 302 schools last year. The 4,259 awardees were selected from more than 200,000 candidates.

Chan King-chong, producer of the presentation ceremony, said that the increasing number of schools taking part in the award was testimony to the big support of the education sector to the event.

In the past seven years, about 28,000 students have been rewarded for their efforts.

According to Mr Chang, the theme of this year's activity is 'to open up the door to wisdom and develop recreational life'. Apart from encouraging students to gain knowledge, the activity also urges them to take an active part in extra-curricular activities.
