THERE has been a surge of interest in bungee-jumping since it became a craze among Hongkong brokers. People have been phoning us to ask if there are facilities in Hongkong (there aren't).
But the four brokers concerned have been discussing setting one up in the territory. All you need is a crane and a lot of nerve.
Hongkong is full of cranes.
''We could organise a big opening party, and invite famous people such as Jackie Chan and Michelle Yeoh - and push them off the edge,'' said James Slade of Baring Securities, with a gleam in his eye yesterday.
Other bungee enthusiasts proposed taking advantage of Hongkong's spectacular architecture. You could jump off the inner vault of the Bank of China Tower and dangle on elastic in the main banking hall.
You could leap off the inside of the Hongkong Bank atrium. The advantage of this would be that spectators could actually watch you from directly underneath, since there is a layer of toughened glass in the way.
