A scaffolding worker raped a 12-year-old girl in a Kwun Tong short-stay hotel room while she begged him to stop, a court heard yesterday.

Kwok Chi-wah, 28, admitted he had sex with the Form One schoolgirl on November 1 last year but claimed the girl willingly took part.

Several days after the incident Kwok wrote to her family 'saying how remorseful he was', prosecutor Robert Forrest told the Court of First Instance.

'He admitted the girl said she was a virgin and that she did not want to have sex,' Mr Forrest said.

'When he tried to remove her underclothes, she resisted and she resisted for as long as she could.' Kwok met the Tai Po schoolgirl and a group of her friends at a late-night food stall. The girl, her 15-year-old cousin, her cousin's boyfriend and Kwok went to Kwun Tong, 'to find a guest hotel'.

Testifying on closed-circuit television the girl, now 13, said Kwok came into her room and carried her into the next room.
