A packaging factory in Kwai Chung may face charges for distributing unhygienic dried curry-beef cubes found in a Tsing Yi Island supermarket.
The Health Department is expected to release test results of the samples from the CRC Shop in Cheung Hong Estate today and 'the Regional Services Department will be advised if the factory owner should be charged', said a health spokesman.
'The food was manufactured in China, but the importer and agent in Hong Kong should be responsible.' The contaminated snack, under the brand-name Super Foods, was discovered by a Tsing Yi resident who complained to the District Board on Tuesday.
He discovered dead and crawling brown-coloured insects on the cubes while finishing the packet. Dozens of the packets had been sold from the supermarket, which has withdrawn the remaining 30 packets.
