Dessert lovers can rejoice: the Tiffin Lounge at the Grand Hyatt reopened last week after a three-week renovation. The new look added extra seats to accommodate the dessert-hungry hordes.

The dessert buffet, which costs $110 (plus 10 per cent), still has made-to-order hot souffles and crepes, as well as ice-creams and sorbets, seasonal fruits and pastries. Reservations are recommended, call 2588-1234.

The Regent's Halloween bash has been cancelled, due to an underwhelming response. Organisers had hoped for 1,500 people to fill the ballrooms and restaurants, but received far fewer bookings.

Those who had hoped to party the night away have been contacted, and will receive a full refund, as well as a complimentary meal in Club Shanghai.

The Regent will now put all their efforts into making their New Year's eve event as great a success as the handover parties.
