A CASHIER from Hongkong was sentenced to death yesterday for importing four kilograms of heroin into Singapore in the false bottom of her duffel bag.

Judicial Commissioner Amarjeet Singh rejected as ''not credible'' Mou Pui Peng's defence that she was a prostitute coming to work in Singapore and had been unwittingly tricked into carrying the drugs by a syndicate of drug traffickers.

Mou, 24, was expressionless when judgement and the death sentence were passed.

The prosecution said she had the bag when she arrived at Changi International Airport from Bangkok on August 29, 1991.

She behaved suspiciously and was stopped by a customs officer. Her bag was later found to have a false bottom containing the heroin.

Her defence was that she was a part-time prostitute sent by her pimp to Singapore. The pimp bought the duffel bag in Bangkok and packed it while she was having a bath.
