THE employers of a Filipino maid killed by a runaway bus said yesterday they were shocked by the tragedy and praised her work during almost four years of service.
Mrs Pascuala Villena Dasias, 37, died at Tang Shiu Kin Hospital on Wednesday after being hit by a school bus in Shan Kwong Road. Her employers' son, five-year-old Ng Ka-ho, received minor injuries.
Businessman Mr Charlie Ng, said: ''We always regarded her as a member of the family. Our two children liked her very much, especially my younger son, Ka-ho, because she had helped raise him.
''We never worried about leaving the children with her, even when we went on trips.'' They were so pleased with her work, he said, that last year they allowed her younger sister, Mrs Filomena Villena Baral, to join her at their Shan Kwong Road home.
Philippine Consul Mr Bentio Valeriano said Mrs Dasias had set a good example for Filipino maids working in the territory.
Her body will be flown back to her family in Manila, Mr Ng said.
