Xerox reduces price and size
Xerox claims that, at $31,888, its DocuPrint C55 desktop laser printer - launched last month - combines a breakthrough price with high performance.
According to Xerox, it is also the smallest footprint colour printer and is up to 40 per cent smaller than its competitors.
'Too often, users are forced to sacrifice printout quality to get an affordable and compact alternative. But not any more. This is a cost- effective solution,' said Dick Yu, director of Xerox Channel Operations.
Apart from cost and size advantages, the printer combines a range of improved productivity features, using advances in printing technology. The company claims these features are unique to it in the desktop colour laser category and that the C55 is the first printer to incorporate them.
Image-fix is a feature that allows for automatic correction of imperfect photographs by re-balancing and optimising the image. Scanned photos, as well as those downloaded from the World- Wide Web, often require re- touching. Image-fix automatically makes the necessary adjustments to provide optimal image quality.
Another feature designed to maximise productivity is 'fax friendly black'. This automatically converts colour into patterns of black-and-white, for example pie charts, allowing documents to be faxed or copied without any loss of information conveyed with colour.
The C55 can also automatically recognise transparencies and adjust the printer settings to optimise print quality. Another feature - Fast Blue - converts full-colour graphs into shades of black and cyan, doubling print speed to six pages per minute (ppm). This is useful for in-house handouts and last-minute prints.
