ICAC assured of free hand

The ICAC was reassured yesterday by Beijing officials that they would not interfere with its fight against corruption.

An Independent Commission Against Corruption delegation led by Commissioner Lily Yam Kwan Pui-ying arrived in the capital yesterday.

The six-day visit will also take in Guangdong.

Mrs Yam met Liu Mingqi, deputy director of the State Council's Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, who said the ICAC would remain independent.
