Ng Lai-fong died in April 1989, leaving a property in Kowloon to be divided equally between her four children. Her natural daughter, Chung Sui-wah, 46, was put in charge of the estate.

In 1992, the property reverted to the Crown. It paid $1.5 million compensation to Ms Chung as administrator. Her adopted sister Chung Shui-kwon, 49, and natural sister Chung Sui-ying, 43, are suing her for allegedly misusing the funds.

Chung Sui-wah used the cash to buy a property, claiming a 45 per cent share for herself, a High Court writ said. The other two got nothing.

In July, Chung Sui-wah was convicted of lying under oath.
