This follows an agreement to establish an Executive Training Centre at the South China University of Technology, a project also involving the Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council (YIC) and the University of Warwick in England.

This initiative was made possible courtesy of a three-million dollar donation by the YIC, which will be spent mainly on setting up new facilities.

At the official signing ceremony for the new project, PolyU president Poon Chung-kwong said: 'The Hong Kong Young Industrialists Council has generously supported the activities of Poly University.

'Being prominent figures in the industry, members of the council not only participate in various advisory committees at the university, giving guidance to our curriculum design and development, but also make fruitful use of our consultancy and executive training services.' Under the agreement, the Executive Training Centre will provide high-quality education and training for working professionals in business and industry in southern China by offering international programmes at an affordable cost.

Subject to regulatory clearance by Chinese authorities, the centre will initially offer the Integrated Graduate Development Scheme.
