Last night it was the turn of American-bred colt Winning Touch to catch the eye with a game fifth in the Class Three third event won by Classic Jester.

It was well short of his best distance and the three-year-old son of Capote was working home solidly along the fence when it was all over. He was beaten just three lengths and was finishing the best of the beaten brigade.

Stanley K. M. Chin had to ride Winning Touch along in the early stages to keep him in range of the pack and he stuck to his guns in the straight, giving the impression that six or seven furlongs will see him at his best. Trackwatchers have also been impressed with the youngster - he works like a horse that is threatening to land the spoils in better than Class 3.
