If the floral arrangements at a high society bash have caught your eye, chances are they were created by Yvonne Guillot. An event stylist and florist, her company Euphorbia has created some of the most stylish and breathtaking centrepieces and decorations to grace a table. 'I have no formal education in this field,' says Yvonne, who adds that she always had a passion for flowers and beautiful things. Having worked in the Grand Hyatt as head stylist for two years and later in the now defunct Quo-Quo restaurant where she was in charge of the flower shop, any lack of formal education has been made up for with experience. Since starting her business three years ago, Yvonne has gained a high-profile clientele and has styled some of the more memorable events in town, among them the Leonard gala dinner and fashion show and Dom Perignon events. But working with flowers has its hazards. Yvonne recalls one occasion where she almost cut her finger off while preparing for a dinner in honour of Prince Edward. 'I was rushed to hospital but had to get back to finish what I was doing,' says Yvonne, ever the professional. 'I didn't have time to follow the original design but I put all the flowers in zinc buckets. The ultimate compliment came from the prince, who admired them.'
