CHAIRMAN of the Citizens Party Christine Loh Kung-wai said yesterday it hoped the participation of two municipal councillors would help boost district-level work of the newly established group. Ms Loh was announcing the membership of Leung Kwong-cheong, a former core member of the Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL) and Chan Tim-shing, a former Democrat. Mr Leung, a provisional regional councillor, was among a group of ADPL members who quit en masse in protest against the decision of the association to join the provisional legislature. The breakaway group later formed a new alliance. However, some of them joined the Democratic Party a few months ago. Mr Leung denied he joined the Citizens Party because his former allies had joined the Democrats.
