IT training plan to click with teachers

Teachers can now be trained to use Information Technology (IT) to improve the quality of education.

The Education Department, together with the Lions Club of Metropolitan Hong Kong and Lions Club of Castle Peak, is offering a series of programmes including workshops, competitions and exhibitions to provide training for teachers interested in developing educational software.

Senior Assistant Director of Education Anthony Tong Kai-hong said workshops would be organised in January as part of the 'Classrooms of the 21st Century Scheme'.

An Educational Software Competition is also being held in February to encourage teachers to develop teaching software for the curriculum in Hong Kong.

The first two prize-winners will visit countries known for their use of IT in education and the winning designs will be introduced to all schools in Hong Kong.
