Provisional legislator Choy So-yuk claims the media should shoulder some of the blame for the financial crisis.
On RTHK's Letter to Hong Kong, Ms Choy said: 'The mass media as a whole was rather unhealthy.
'It lost much of its professional balance and detachment, and was too deeply involved in the development of the matter.' Ms Choy, a member of the pro-Beijing Hong Kong Progressive Alliance, said reports on the crisis were 'exaggerated beyond recognition'.
'Some media appeared to be closely identified with the vested interests in the market and even played to the tune of the powerful, giving an impression that the market is ultimately determined by the men with connections, not by market forces,' she said.
Wong Siu-yee, also a member of the alliance, has recently attacked RTHK for criticising the Government.
