TNT and Qantas sign global express distribution agreement
TNT Express Worldwide (TNT EW) and Qantas have signed the world's first global express distribution agreement, the firms claim.
The move follows the success of sector agreements between the two on Singapore-London and Australia, New Zealand and Asian routes.
TNT EW, owned by Dutch post and telecoms group PTT Nederland, said the Singapore-London agreement had resulted in a 14 per cent improvement in TNT EW's service levels within a year.
The new agreement details strict commitments covering delivery quantities, flight schedules and rates which guarantee expected service levels.
'Qantas is the first airline to make a commitment to an express distribution company on a global basis,' said John Batten, TNT EW corporate director, commercial linehaul.
Meanwhile, TNT Australia has completed the A$125 million (about HK$655 million) sale of its four transport businesses to Toll Holdings.
