Vietnam joins the anti-HIV bandwagon

IT looks like there is a growing trend among governments in the region, such as China, Japan and Vietnam to deny people who are HIV-positive from entering their country. This has prompted a warning that the practice is discriminatory and will not stopthe spread of the killer disease AIDS. Last week Hongkong's first self-confessed HIV-positive victim was denied a visa to Vietnam to perform in a drama in Hanoi.

Meanwhile, public consultation on sewage charges will finally start next month. It will last about three months, with input expected from the Environmental Pollution Advisory Committee, district boards and green groups.
