Sugar production group set up

The mainland has set up its largest sugar production group, controlling 24 sugar refineries and about 11 per cent of national output, Xinhua said yesterday. Nanning Prefecture Sugar Group, based in Guangxi, will produce 850,000 tonnes of sugar a year, with production expected to rise to 1.1 million tonnes by the turn of the century.
