Former executive councillor Lydia Dunn has set the record straight about her marriage to former attorney-general Michael Thomas, with a press statement denying rumours of a break-up.
The rumours had been deeply distressing, the statement said. The couple was together, not separate, and had no intention of separating.
The decision to go public with this non-story prompted a jolly reminiscence from a colleague, who had attended the press conference a couple of years back when Baroness Dunn announced her imminent exit from the governor's cabinet and departure for London.
Just as things were winding down, our colleague was tapped on the shoulder by none other than Lady Dunn's lord and master.
'What's she been saying?' asked Mr Thomas under his breath.
'She's been saying she is really sad to leave Hong Kong,' said our man.
