A couple, whose sex game ended with one of them dead, videotaped themselves wrestling in chains to the strains of Elvis Presley singing Viva Las Vegas.

 A Court of First Instance jury watched two hours of videotape yesterday, which showed Choi Kim-hung, 31, and Mohammed Khan, 21, imitating a gay sado-masochistic porn film.

 Khan died in chains with tape sealing his mouth and nose on November 28 last year. Choi has pleaded not guilty to manslaughter.

 Khan's death was not recorded on the videotape, but the two hours of bondage before it was.

 The court's video monitors were positioned so that they were directly visible only to the jury, judge and lawyers.

 But the public and press crowded to the left-hand side of the court where it was possible to view the video over the shoulders of the lawyers.

 Choi, unemployed, picked up Khan in Lan Kwai Fong on November 28.

 While watching a bondage film at Choi's Des Voeux Road West flat, Khan produced the chains and suggested the pair recreate the movie. The videotape showed Khan bound and chained and Choi was seen readjusting his lover's chains to ensure he was comfortable.

 After the tape stopped, Choi claimed he had gone to sleep beside his partner who had suddenly become still. Twenty minutes later, he awoke to discover Khan was dead.

 A government pathologist told the court that Khan had died of suffocation and pressure to the neck which caused asphyxiation.

 Dr Bobby Shum Shui-fun said the practice of heightening sexual pleasure by decreasing the oxygen supply through strangulation or suffocation was 'a well-known occurrence'.

 Choi left the corpse in his flat for two days before he told anyone.

 He finally went to Western Police Station with a friend where he explained how Khan had died.

 When Dr Shum examined the body at the flat on November 30, it was still on the bed, partially wrapped in a bag.

 The head was covered in a plastic bag and bound with rope, the jury heard.

 The trial continues today before Mr Justice Thomas Gall.
