Lai Sun Group chairman Lim Por-yen was detained in Taipei yesterday in connection with an alleged $23.7 million bribery scandal.

Mr Lim, also chairman of ATV, is being questioned about the re-zoning of farmland he owns near the proposed site of the National Taipei University at Sanhsia, Taipei County.

Chuang Yu-kun, director of the Taipei County Government's Land Administration Bureau, is accused of accepting bribes worth NT$100 million (HK$23.7 million) for information on the location of the new campus.

He has been in detention since last month over his alleged involvement in a separate suspect land deal, but Mr Lim is being questioned only about the Sanhsia case.
