Religion has flocked to the Net as a tool for spreading the Word. The Internet also provides a useful resource for seekers and researchers alike by providing easy access to primary and secondary texts from almost every religious group.

In fact, any attempt to survey sites offering access to religious texts will be nothing more than a drop in the bucket. Yahoo!'s list of religious sites at (http: //www.yahoo.com/Society-and-Culture/Religion) has nearly 14,000 sites and the number is growing each week.
Still, there are some notable sites which make the job of accessing major religious works easier. If you are looking for the Bible on-line, a useful site is the Bible Gateway (http://bible.gateway. com/bible?) which offers searchable versions of six English translations of the Bible including the King James Bible.

On top of this, the site provides Bibles in other languages including German, Swedish and Tagalog, as well as Latin.

From the Eastern religious tradition, BuddhaNet (http://www2.hawkesbury. uws.edu.au/BuddhaNet/) offers numerous resources including an e-zine, commentary on a variety of subjects including death and dying, meditation and links to other Buddhist sites.

The site also includes a file library with texts and resources on Buddhism in general as well as specifically on Thereveda, Mahayana and Zen Buddhism.

If you are looking for Buddhist texts in Chinese, some can be downloaded from the German site called the WWW Database of Chinese Buddhist texts (http: //www.gwdg.de/cwitter/can/ ind/canwww.htm). The database contains more than 4,300 documents from more than 1,300 authors. Individual files can be downloaded or the complete database can be downloaded in a single archive file.
